A Makeup Newbie

I didn't grow up with makeup. My mom wasn't a makeup wearer, and since she was the only woman in my life, it always felt more normal to not wear it. I couldn't understand why women wore makeup at all. I thought that a woman wearing makeup meant that they lacked self confidence or felt that they needed to improve themselves because they didn't look good. When I was in college, all of the girls around me would spend hours in the morning getting ready and applying their makeup. I would boast about how fast it was for me to get dressed because I didn't wear any myself. Boy, I must have sounded so annoying

It wasn't until I graduated from college that I realized just how great makeup is. It's not about trying to cover up an ugly face. Makeup is quite simply fun. You can already be confident and wear makeup because you like it. It doesn't matter what other people think about you. It's about feeling good about yourself. Now I love makeup.

But because I have jumped into the makeup scene so late in life, I am 26 and I don't know much about it. I've spent a great part of the past year watching makeup tutorials on youtube and learning all about different techniques and even really basic things like how to properly apply foundation. I can't believe I spent so much time not dabbling in this stuff because I love it so much.
